Message Centre Number For MTN, Airtel, Glo & Etisalat Plus How to Set it up

You might be hearing message centre number but you don't know what is actually mean or you don't know how you can access it or otherwise you don't even how it functions. This article will explain it to you what is message centre is number and how it works. it is imperative for you to know that any kind of device that sends or receive message has something called Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) Number that regulates SMS service operation on your phone.

The Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) Number needs to be set correctly in your phone so it can send text messages. If you accidently change or delete it on your mobile phone, you’ll no longer be able to send sms. You will likely be getting “message sending” failed error whenever you try to send text messages on the phone.

    What is Message Centre Number?

Short Message Service Centre (SMSC) Number is responsible for delivering the SMS text messages of a mobile network through your mobile phone. Typically an SMSC address is an ordinary mobile phone number in the international format.

When an SMS message is sent from a mobile phone, it will reach an SMS Service Centre first. The SMS centre then forwards the SMS message towards the destination mobile network. An SMS message may need to pass through more than one network entity (e.g. SMSC and SMS gateway) before reaching the mobile phone.

The main duty of an SMSC is to route SMS messages and regulate the process. If the recipient is unavailable (for example, when the mobile phone is switched off), the SMSC will store the SMS message. It will forward the SMS message when the recipient is available.

To be able to send SMS from your Mobile (Cell) phone you must first know the address of the mobile network operator’s SMSC. Normally, the SMSC address is pre-set in the SIM card by the mobile network operator, which means you do not need to make any changes to it, unless you want to use FREE SMSC’s.

Message Centre Number for MTN, Airtel, Glo & Etisalat

If for any reason your message center number has been edited or deleted, please find below, the correct values for Glo, Etisalat, Airtel and MTN Nigeria Message Centre Numbers:
    1. MTN Message center Number : +234803000000
    2. Etisalat Message Center Number : +2348090001518
    3. Airtel Message Center Number : +2348020000009
    4. Glo Message Centre Number : +2348050001501

How to Configure Message Centre Number on your Phone

    For Android Users..

In most Androids, it can be located in Messages > Option / Settings > Text Message Setting.

On some Dual SIM Androids, you can set the SMSC for both networks.

    For Iphone Users..

On iPhone, you can check your message centre number by dialing *#5005*7672#
If you are using MTN on your iPhone, and the ‘Service Centre Address’ isn’t +234803000000, dial **5005*7672*+234803000000# to set it to the correct MTN Message Centre Number.

    For Other Phones..

Just go to your message setting and look for the Message Centre Number or Service Provide Centre Number as the case may be and edit it to the correct one.

Websites Without HTTPS (SSL Certificates) to be Flagged by Google Chrome From January 2017

Google will start to downgrade HTTP sites on its Chrome browser from January 2017 by marking them out as less secure in a bid to stop people visiting sites run by crooks and scammers.

The move means that legitimate website operators without HTTPS websites need to act. Google has long hinted at such a move so it should not come as a huge surprise.

"To help users browse the web safely, Chrome indicates connection security with an icon in the address bar. Historically, Chrome has not explicitly labelled HTTP connections as non-secure," said Emily Schechter from the Chrome Security team in a blog post.

"Beginning in January 2017 (Chrome 56), we'll mark HTTP sites that transmit passwords or credit cards as non-secure, as part of a long-term plan to mark all HTTP sites as non-secure.
http site to be flag by google chrome

"A substantial portion of web traffic has transitioned to HTTPS so far, and HTTPS use is consistently increasing. We recently hit a milestone with more than half of Chrome desktop page loads now served over HTTPS.

"In addition, since the time we released our HTTPS report in February, 12 more of the top 100 websites have changed their serving default from HTTP to HTTPS."

Google is very keen on this sort of thing, and recently applied the HTTPS padlock sign to Gmail.

"Studies show that users do not perceive the lack of a 'secure' icon as a warning and become blind to warnings that occur too frequently. Our plan to label HTTP sites more clearly and accurately as non-secure will take place in gradual steps, based on increasingly stringent criteria," said Schechter.

"Chrome 56 will label HTTP pages with password or credit card form fields as not secure, given their particularly sensitive nature.

"In following releases, we will continue to extend HTTP warnings, for example, by labelling HTTP pages as ‘not secure' in Incognito mode, where users may have higher expectations of privacy.

"Eventually, we plan to label all HTTP pages as non-secure, and change the HTTP security indicator to the red triangle that we use for broken HTTPS."
